Schoenbrunn
To schedule your class visit please call 877-278-8020. Tours are offered Monday through Friday 9:00 to 5:00.
Founded in 1772 by the Moravian Church as a mission for the Delaware Indians, this first Christian settlement in Ohio grew to include over 60 dwellings and 300 inhabitants. The Delaware who converted lived peacefully at Schoenbrunn for five years until events associated with the American Revolution forced the mission to close in 1777.
Today's reconstructed village consists of 17 log structures and two acres of planted fields, and the original cemetery. A museum offers information and exhibits on the Delaware Indians, life in the village, and the archaeological excavations that helped locate the site.
