To schedule your class visit please call the Licking County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 740-345-9224 or 1-800-589-8224.

Tours are offered Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 AM

Admission: Students $5.00 for tour of Great Circle or Flint Ridge, $7.00 per Student for tours of both sites on the same day, Teachers and 4 additional adults FREE

Please allow a minimum of 4 hours for one site visit and 5 to visit both sites.

Checks should be written to the Ohio State University at Newark.


The Great Circle Earthworks is the starting point of any self-guided tour of the Newark Earthworks. It is here that the picnic facility is located. The Great Circle Earthworks is about 1,200 feet in diameter and encloses 26 acres. The site's grass-covered walls range in height from 8 to 14 feet.

The 50-foot long segment known as Wright Earthworks is located less than a city block west of the SR 70 intersection with Grant Street. This 50-foot long segment is one side of a large square enclosure and may be viewed from James Street just a short distance from this interchange.

The Octagon Earthworks is closed to the public except on the following designated dates;
Sunday, October 31, and Monday November 1, 2004.

There are no organized tours or programs at Newark Earthworks at this time, however, groups are welcome to explore the earthworks on their own with no reservation.
