Museum > Tour Information
Group Size: We suggest that groups larger and 60 students divide their visit between Ohio River Museum
and Campus Martius Museum with one half visiting one museum then switching to the other.
Some of the following tours/programs/workshops have condensed files that include links,
content standards and other resources.

Students will find items from within the Ohio River Musuem.
Guided Tour: Ohio River Museum (September & October) ( 213 k)
After student view the video Fire and Water, they will tour the museum
and learn about the history of steamboats. They will tour the W. P.
Snyder, Jr., the last remaining towboat of its kind in America.
Program: Let's Talk Turkey! (September, October, March, and April) ( 102 k)
This workshop is an action-filled educationally with information and
activities featuring wild turkeys. After an introductory video, students
will learn about turkeys for the time of the American Indian until the
present.
Program: Ohio River Mussels (September, October, March, and Apri) ( 105 k)
Along the bottoms of many rivers, lakes, and streams live a group of
wildlife easily overlooked -Freshwater Mussels. What do they look like?
How do they move? This workshop includes a short guided tour of the
mussel exhibit.
Program: River Explorers (September, October, March, and April) ( 143 k)
Students become active river explorers in this program as they learn of
the life of a pilot to a deckhand on a riverboat. They will learn duties
and chores, listen to songs, then visit the W. P. Snyder, Jr. towboat.
Explorers are presented with a W. P. Snyder, Jr. pilot badge.
