> Using Skills and Methods
The following programs focus on the use of primary and secondary sources
to help find answers to questions about history. Each program has been
designed with the new Social Studies Academic Content Standards in mind.
These programs are produced at the Ohio Historical Center using actual
artifacts, video streaming, remote cameras, blue-screen projections, and
theatrical sets among the innovative techniques connect sources and
skills to learning for students.
The fee for each of these programs is $50.00 for each in-state program
and $125.00 for connections out-of-state. Advance registrations are
required and may be made by contacting the Scheduling Offices at the
Ohio Historical Center at 614.297.2663 or 800.850.3245.

Program: Archaeology (September through May)

During this interactive program students will learn the basic terms, methods, and
tools of archaeology. The class will compare and contrast the archaeology of yesterday
with the way it is practiced today.
Program: Ask the Expert (September through May) ( 73 k)
With this program, the staff and professionals of the Ohio Historical
Society's sites are at your disposal. This is your opportunity to
choose a topic from archaeology to genealogy to Zoarites and request an
expert to interact with your class on a tailor-made presentation.
Program: Picture This (September through May) ( 119 k)
Historical photography and art is the focus of this interactive program.
Images from the Ohio Historical Society's collections will be
highlighted. Students will learn from an archivist or other expert
about how to examine an image and interpret it to discover elements of
history such as fashion, architecture, customs, and more.
