My Community Then and Now (60 k)
The local community is examined and compared to what it was in the past. Mapping skill are included in this lesson.

Food then and Now (73 k)
The food we eat today is similar to what was eaten long ago but the preparation then didn't have the advantage of modern conveniences. Students use math skills as they make two old recipes.

Interview an Older Person (67 k)
A person who witnessed an event in history is a primary source for information. Students learn interview techniques and writing skills in this lesson. Poetry is included.

Toys then and Now (61 k)
Toys are more than playthings, they are a means of developing skills and knowledge that can be used in later life. Toys are discussed then students can make a drum or puppet.

Transportation then and Now (59 k)
Transportation of the turn-of-the-20th-century is examined and compared to that of today. Students make a model wagon.

What Was Said and What Was Not Said? (105 k)
This lesson and activities help the student to be able to locate and identify a primary source and through analysis, extrapolate information to help them understand or interpret an event.
